In a big move towards the development of health and well-being among school-going children, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released Circular No. Acad-26/2025, encouraging all its affiliated schools to implement active steps in developing awareness regarding excessive sugar consumption and its negative impacts. This involves establishing a 'Sugar Board' in each school, creating educative content, and conducting interactive activities to raise awareness among children regarding healthy eating habits.

At Yuvaan Gurukul, we are very much in tune with this effort. As an organization dedicated to all-around development, we feel that learning is not only about text and tests—it's as much about inculcating good habits and empowering children to make smart lifestyle decisions.

Why Target Sugar Consumption?

Excess consumption of sugar is a worldwide public health issue. Children and teenagers are especially susceptible because sugar-rich foods are highly marketed and easily available. Excess consumption of sugar has been connected to:

  1. Obesity
  2. Type 2 Diabetes
  3. Metabolic disorder at an early age
  4. Tooth decay
  5. Poor focus and energy slumps

Keeping in mind CBSE's appeal for self-initiated action, Team Yuvaan Gurukul has made a constructive and educational move forward.

Poster Initiative: Learning Through Visual Clout

Our creative team created an awareness poster called Think Before You Sip or Bite to present the significance of restricting sugar intake visually.

Poster Key Features:

Daily Limits: Clear details on WHO-suggested daily sugar limits for children and adolescents.

Hidden Sugars: A list of sugar intake in foods that are frequently eaten such as soft drinks, packaged juices, chocolates, breakfast cereals, and biscuits.

Dangers of Overconsumption: Infographics detailing the connection between excessive sugar consumption and long-term diseases.

Better Choices: Alternatives to snacking on sugary foods such as fruits, nuts, and homemade versions of sweet treats.

Parent involvement programs to support healthy habits at home.

Our Promise Going Forward

At Yuvaan Gurukul, we believe in converting awareness into action. Through encouraging curiosity, accountability, and healthy habits, we are not only building intelligent minds but also healthy bodies. This project is a small but significant initiative on our continuing journey towards educational excellence and student well-being.

Schools are encouraged to download our free A3-size colored poster designed to raise awareness about sugar intake among students. This vibrant and informative poster can be printed and displayed in classrooms, canteens, and corridors to serve as a constant reminder of healthy eating habits. Let's work together to build a healthier future—one poster at a time!
